Honda liquid gasket 08CRA-HLG-120G
Check part compatibility
Genuine Honda Silicone Gasket Maker 08CRA-HLG-121 is a factory-spec RTV silicone sealant. This 120-gram tube replaces both 08CRA-HLG-120 and 08CRA-HLG-120G. The updated Hondabond formula is standard equipment in Honda workshops for sealing valve covers, oil pans, and sumps where a pre-formed gasket is not sufficient.
Engineered for high resistance to engine oil and extreme temperatures, this silicone creates a durable, flexible seal that adapts to surface irregularities without cracking over time.
Common Applications
- Valve cover gasket installation (as additional sealant in corners)
- Oil pan / sump sealing (where no pre-cut gasket is available)
- Timing chain cover and oil pump sealing
OEM Numbers
- 08CRA-HLG-121 — current part number
- 08CRA-HLG-120G — previous part number (superseded)
- 08CRA-HLG-120 — previous part number (superseded)
Application Tips
- Clean surfaces thoroughly — old sealant and oil residue prevent proper adhesion.
- Apply a continuous bead 2–3 mm wide on one mating surface — less is more; excess will squeeze into the engine.
- Assemble within 5 minutes and torque to spec. Allow to cure for at least 1 hour before adding oil.
- Do not use on head gaskets or exhaust components — this is a general-purpose engine sealant.
Why Use Genuine Honda Hondabond?
Aftermarket silicone sealants often degrade faster under high-heat cycling and can become brittle. Honda specifies this exact formula for a reason — it maintains flexibility and adhesion through the engine's entire operating temperature range, preventing slow leaks that lead to oil loss and belt contamination.
FAQ
Is the formulation different from the old 08CRA-HLG-120G?
No — 08CRA-HLG-121 is a pure part number reissue. The chemical formula, curing time, and temperature resistance are identical to the superseded 08CRA-HLG-120G.
Can this be used instead of a valve cover gasket?
Not on its own. Use it together with the rubber valve cover gasket to seal corners and cam-cap transitions, exactly as the Honda service manual specifies.
Is one tube enough for an oil pan seal?
Yes — a 120-gram tube is sufficient for a single oil pan application on most 4-cylinder Honda engines, with some left over for minor touch-ups.
