Honda Jazz V (2020–2025): advanced e:HEV hybrid in a compact body

The fifth-generation Honda Jazz, introduced in Europe in 2020, is one of the most refined and efficient hybrid city cars on the market. Offered exclusively with the e:HEV hybrid system, it combines excellent fuel economy, outstanding reliability and impressive interior space. Jazz V is designed for everyday comfort, effortless urban driving and long-term durability.

Body design and interior of the Honda Jazz V

Honda continues its “maximum space for minimum size” philosophy. Despite compact external dimensions, the Jazz V offers a surprisingly roomy and bright cabin with great visibility thanks to its large windows. The rugged Crosstar version adds increased ground clearance and more durable exterior elements.

The interior follows a clean, modern design with excellent ergonomics. One of the most praised features remains the Magic Seats system, allowing several loading configurations and providing class-leading practicality compared to other B-segment cars.

Engine and e:HEV technology (1.5 i-MMD)

The e:HEV hybrid system in the Jazz V is based on a 1.5 i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle petrol engine and a powerful electric motor. In daily driving, the car is predominantly powered by the electric motor, while the petrol engine mainly acts as a generator, ensuring high efficiency and low consumption.

  • Petrol engine: 1.5 i-VTEC (Atkinson cycle)
  • Petrol engine power: 97 HP (72 kW) at 5500–6400 rpm
  • Petrol engine torque: 131 Nm at 4500–5000 rpm
  • Electric motor power: 80 kW / 109 HP
  • Electric motor torque: 253 Nm
  • Hybrid system maximum output: 80 kW / 109 HP
  • 0–100 km/h: 9.4 s
  • Top speed: 175 km/h
  • Noise level while driving: 66 dB

In real-world conditions, the Jazz V is extremely smooth, quiet and efficient, especially in city driving where the electric motor handles most of the work. At higher speeds, increased engine noise under hard acceleration is normal for the e-CVT design but the behaviour remains predictable and stable.

Common issues and service notes

The Honda Jazz V is considered highly reliable, but some recurring points reported by owners include:

  • mild vibrations during cold start (usually resolved with software updates),
  • moisture or fogging in Honda Sensing cameras and radar sensors in high humidity,
  • oil seepage from the valve cover over time (commonly resolved by replacing the gasket, e.g. 12341-5R0-003).

Regular servicing focuses on standard maintenance: oil, filters and routine inspections. The e:HEV hybrid system does not require additional service beyond Honda’s scheduled maintenance.

Most frequently purchased parts for Honda Jazz V

  • air and cabin filters (Honda OEM, MANN, HAMP),
  • valve cover gaskets (e.g. 12341-5R0-003),
  • brake pads and discs designed for hybrid models,
  • suspension components such as stabilizer links and bushings,
  • Honda OEM fluids and service parts.

We offer both genuine Honda OEM parts and high-quality aftermarket replacements compatible with the specific requirements of the e:HEV system in the Honda Jazz V (2020–2025).
