Rear beam bush SPORT Strongflex 081803A – Honda Civic VIII / CR-Z / Jazz III / Insight / City

Polyurethane rear beam bush Strongflex 081803A SPORT is designed to stiffen the rear axle and improve handling precision in Honda compact models. The SPORT version with 90 ShA hardness significantly reduces deflection of the rear beam compared to the OEM rubber bush, giving a more direct response of the rear suspension – especially noticeable during fast cornering, load changes and spirited driving.

Compatibility – vehicles

This rear beam bush fits the following models:

  • Honda CR-Z (2010–2016)
  • Honda City V (2008–2013)
  • Honda Civic VIII (2006–2012) Hatchback FK / FN / FN2 Type R
  • Honda Insight II (2009–2014)
  • Honda Jazz III (2008–2015)

OEM reference numbers

The bush can be used as a polyurethane replacement for the following OEM rear beam assemblies:

  • 42100-SMG-E05
  • 42100-SMG-E06
  • 42100-SMT-E03
  • 42100-SMT-E04

SPORT version – characteristics and benefits

  • Hardness 90 ShA (SPORT) – clearly stiffer than the standard rubber bush, reduces unwanted movement of the rear beam and improves geometry stability under load.
  • More direct rear axle response – the car reacts quicker to steering inputs and weight transfer, which is noticeable on twisty roads, track days or during spirited driving.
  • Durable polyurethane (PUR/PU) – high resistance to wear, oil, fuel and weather conditions, much longer service life compared to many OEM rubber bushes.
  • Recommended use – cars with suspension upgrades, stiffer springs or sport shocks, performance-oriented street builds and occasional track use.
  • Please note: due to the higher stiffness of the SPORT version, a slight increase in noise and vibration (NVH) compared to the OEM rubber bush is normal.

FAQ – questions about Strongflex 081803A SPORT

Will the SPORT rear beam bush increase noise and vibration?

Compared to the OEM rubber bush, the SPORT version (90 ShA) is stiffer, so a slight increase in noise and vibration (NVH) is possible. In return you gain much better rear axle control and more precise handling. For cars focused on comfort only, the softer B version may be a better choice.

Is wheel alignment necessary after replacing the rear beam bushes?

Yes, after working on the rear beam and its mounting points it is strongly recommended to check and adjust wheel alignment. Correct alignment ensures even tyre wear, stable handling and allows you to fully benefit from the stiffer polyurethane bushes.

Can I install Strongflex 081803A SPORT at home?

The rear beam bush replacement requires pressing out the old bush and installing the new one using suitable tools. An experienced DIYer with access to a press can handle the job, but for most users professional workshop installation will be quicker and safer.

What is the difference between 081803A SPORT and the softer version?

081803A SPORT (90 ShA) is aimed at more performance-oriented setups – it offers the highest stiffness and best control of rear axle movement. The softer version 081803B provides improved precision over OEM rubber, but with less NVH increase and more everyday comfort. Choosing between them depends on how much focus you put on handling versus comfort in your Honda.
