PTFE Thermal Throttle Body Gasket P-P2A-004 – replaces 16176-P2A-004

P-P2A-004 is a high-quality thermal insulating throttle body gasket made from PTFE (Teflon). It is a direct replacement for the original Honda gasket 16176-P2A-004, used in popular Honda D-series engines such as D16Y7, D14A3 and D14A4.

The gasket reduces heat transfer from the intake manifold to the throttle body, helping stabilise intake air temperature, reducing heat-soak and improving throttle consistency and drivability, especially in warm conditions and city traffic.

Applications – compatible engines and models

The PTFE P-P2A-004 gasket fits the following Honda models:

  • Honda Civic 1996–2000 (3D, 4D) – D14A3, D14A4, D16Y7
  • Honda Civic Coupe 1992–2000 (2D) – D16Y7
  • Honda CRX 1996–1997
  • Honda HR-V 1999–2005 – D-series engines

Direct OEM replacement: 16176-P2A-004.

PTFE (Teflon) material characteristics

PTFE is one of the most stable and chemically resistant plastics used in automotive applications. It provides excellent insulation and maintains its structure even under continuous heat and pressure.

  • Chemical resistance: fully resistant to fuel, oils, solvents and additives.
  • Thermal resistance: continuous up to +260°C, peak up to +300°C.
  • Safety: non-melting, self-extinguishing, very difficult to ignite (UL94).
  • Low thermal conductivity: significantly reduces heat transfer to the throttle body.
  • Dimensional stability: does not deform under heat or bolt pressure.

Benefits of a thermal throttle body gasket

  • helps maintain lower intake air temperatures,
  • reduces heat-soak in the intake manifold area,
  • improves throttle response consistency,
  • supports smooth idle when the engine is hot,
  • simple plug-and-play installation.

FAQ – PTFE P-P2A-004 throttle body gasket

Is PTFE safe with fuel and solvents?

Yes. PTFE is fully resistant to petrol, oils, coolant and all standard automotive chemicals.

Does this gasket improve engine performance?

Indirectly yes – reduced heat transfer helps maintain more stable intake air temperatures and smoother throttle behaviour.

Is additional sealant required?

No. PTFE seals properly without silicone or gasket pastes.
