Rear upper control arm outer bushing – wheel side – Honda Civic / CRX / CR-V – Febest

This rear upper control arm outer bushing (wheel-side bushing) is designed for classic Honda multi-link rear suspension. It is pressed into the rear upper control arm on the wheel side (hub / wheel carrier side) and works together with the inner “small candy” bushing mounted closer to the body. Worn or cracked bushings in this location can cause rear-end instability, uneven tyre wear and problems with rear wheel alignment.

The bushing is manufactured by Febest and is a high-quality replacement for the original Honda item. It fits the same rear upper control arms as OEM bushings used in Civic, CRX and first-generation CR-V and allows you to restore proper suspension compliance without the cost of a complete arm.

Applications – Honda Civic, CRX and CR-V

This rear upper control arm outer bushing (wheel side) fits the following models:

  • Honda Civic 1988–2001 – models with multi-link rear suspension (all standard European and Japanese-spec versions of these generations)
  • Honda CRX 1988–1998 – including popular sporty variants with independent rear suspension
  • Honda CR-V 1997–2001 – first-generation CR-V with multi-link rear suspension

If you are not sure whether this bushing fits your car, check your VIN with a Honda specialist or parts dealer before ordering.

OEM reference numbers

The bushing is a replacement for the rear upper control arm outer bushing on the wheel side used in the following Honda part numbers (for reference only, this is not a genuine Honda part):

  • 52395-SH3-004
  • 52395-SH3-005
  • 52395-SH0-A01
  • 52395-SK7-004

If your original bushing or rear upper control arm was marked with any of the numbers above, this Febest bushing is designed as a direct replacement for that position on the wheel side.

When should you replace the rear upper control arm outer bushing?

Symptoms of a worn rear upper control arm outer bushing on the wheel side may include:

  • Clunking or knocking noises from the rear of the car when driving over bumps
  • Rear-end instability or a “floating” feeling in fast corners
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear on the rear axle
  • Problems with correct rear camber or toe during wheel alignment

Because this bushing works as a pair with the inner “small candy” bushing on the same upper arm, it is often recommended to inspect and – if necessary – replace both bushings at the same time to restore proper suspension geometry and feel.

Installation tips and wheel alignment

  • Press the old bushing out using a suitable press tool – do not hammer directly on the arm or wheel carrier.
  • Clean the bore in the arm thoroughly before pressing in the new bushing.
  • Observe the correct orientation of the new bushing (if the design is directional).
  • Tighten all fasteners only after the suspension is at normal ride height.

After any work on the rear suspension – especially when bushings are replaced – a complete 4-wheel alignment is highly recommended. Correct rear camber and toe settings are crucial for predictable handling and even tyre wear.

FAQ – rear upper control arm outer bushing, wheel side – Honda Civic / CRX / CR-V (Febest)

Is this the same arm as the “small candy” bushing?
Yes. This bushing is installed on the same rear upper control arm as the inner “small candy” bushing, but on the wheel side (hub / wheel carrier side). The “small candy” sits closer to the body, this one sits at the outer end of the arm.

Is this an original Honda bushing?
No. This is a Febest replacement part. It is designed to replace the OEM bushing used under Honda part numbers 52395-SH3-004, 52395-SH3-005, 52395-SH0-A01 and 52395-SK7-004, but it is not supplied by Honda.

Should I replace both rear upper control arm bushings at the same time?
In most cases – yes. If one bushing on the arm has already failed, the other is usually worn as well. Replacing both the inner “small candy” and the outer wheel-side bushing helps restore correct suspension movement and makes wheel alignment more stable.

Is wheel alignment necessary after replacing this bushing?
It is strongly recommended. The rear upper control arm directly affects rear camber and toe. After pressing in a new bushing and reassembling the suspension, a full 4-wheel alignment should be performed.
