Thermal intake manifold gasket Honda B16/B18 – 17105-P30-004 replacement

This thermal intake manifold gasket is made from high-quality PTFE and designed as a direct replacement for the OEM Honda gasket used in B-series performance engines. With a thickness of 3 mm it improves thermal insulation between the cylinder head and the intake manifold, helping to reduce heat transfer into the intake runners.

Compared to the standard composite gasket, the PTFE spacer keeps intake air temperatures more stable, especially during intensive use, trackdays or spirited driving in hot conditions. The gasket can be removed and reinstalled multiple times during service work, provided that the sealing surfaces are clean and undamaged.

Material specification – PTFE

The gasket is manufactured from PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), a material widely used in demanding industrial and motorsport applications:

  • Excellent chemical resistance to fuels, oils and most automotive fluids
  • Continuous working temperature up to approx. +260 °C
  • Short-term temperature resistance up to approx. +300 °C
  • Non-melting, self-extinguishing and very difficult to ignite (UL94)
  • Very low thermal conductivity – one of the lowest among engineering plastics

Thanks to these properties the PTFE spacer effectively reduces heat soak of the intake manifold while maintaining reliable sealing between the head and the manifold.

FAQ – thermal intake manifold gasket Honda B16/B18 17105-P30-004

Does this gasket change intake manifold height?
Yes. The PTFE spacer is approx. 3 mm thick, so the intake manifold sits slightly further from the cylinder head. In most OEM setups this does not cause clearance issues, but it is worth checking if you use non-standard manifolds or custom brackets.

Can the gasket be reused?
Yes. PTFE is resistant to compression and temperature, so the gasket can be removed and refitted several times, as long as the surfaces of the head and manifold are clean, flat and free from damage.

Is additional sealant required?
In most cases proper cleaning of both surfaces and correct torque of the manifold bolts is sufficient. If the engine has visible surface defects or corrosion marks around the ports, a very thin layer of high-temperature sealant can be used at the installer’s discretion.

Is this part suitable for everyday street use?
Yes. The gasket is designed for both street and track cars. Improved thermal insulation of the intake can be beneficial in daily driving, while maintaining full reliability in long-term use.
