Thermal Insulating Throttle Body Gasket PTFE P-P06-A02 – replaces 16176-P06-A02

P-P06-A02 is a high-quality thermal insulating throttle body gasket made from PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). It is a direct replacement for the original Honda gasket 16176-P06-A02 used in engines D16Z6 and B20B found in Civic, CRX and early CR-V models.

The use of PTFE significantly reduces heat transfer from the intake manifold to the throttle body, helping maintain stable intake air temperatures, reducing heat-soak and improving engine consistency and throttle response in real driving conditions.

Applications – compatible engines and models

  • Honda Civic 1992–1995 (3D, 4D) – D16Z6
  • Honda CRX 1992–1995 – D16Z6
  • Honda CR-V 1997–1999 – B20B

Direct OEM replacement: 16176-P06-A02.

Material characteristics – PTFE (Teflon)

PTFE is one of the most chemically and thermally stable materials used in automotive applications. It provides excellent insulation, does not react with fuels, oils or chemicals and maintains its properties even under long-term heat exposure.

  • Chemical resistance: unaffected by fuel, oils, solvents and additives.
  • Thermal resistance: continuous operation up to +260°C, peak up to +300°C.
  • Thermal stability: non-melting, self-extinguishing (UL94), difficult to ignite.
  • Very low thermal conductivity: 8 × 10-4 cal/s/cm/°C – among the lowest of all engineering plastics.
  • Excellent heat insulation: reduces heat transfer to the throttle body.

These properties make PTFE ideal for isolating the throttle body from intake manifold heat.

Benefits of an insulating throttle body gasket

  • reduces heat soak in the intake system,
  • helps maintain cooler intake air temperatures,
  • improves throttle consistency in stop-and-go driving,
  • supports smooth idle when hot,
  • simple installation with no modifications required.

FAQ – PTFE P-P06-A02 throttle body gasket

Is PTFE safe with fuel and solvents?

Yes. PTFE is fully resistant to gasoline, oils and all common automotive chemicals.

Does this gasket improve performance?

Indirectly yes. Lower heat transfer reduces heat-soak, helping maintain stable temperatures and more consistent throttle response.

Do I need sealant when installing a PTFE gasket?

No. PTFE provides a proper seal without silicone, RTV or gasket pastes.
